The National Interfaith Humanitarian Mission led by Kalinaw Mindanao Peace Alliance was conducted on June 13-16, 2017 for internally displaced persons who are now camped in evacuation centres and homebased facilities in Iligan, Lanao del Norte and Marawi, Lanao del Sur as well as in President Roxas, North Cotabato and Matan-ao, Davao del Sur. The on-going siege in Marawi and implementation of martial rule in Mindanao has resulted to the displacement of over 600,000 Filipinos including Meranaw, Maguindanaoan, and B'laan (Department of Social Welfare and Development | Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Bureau of Public Information | Kalinaw Mindanao data). Activities in the mission included fora on the situation of Moro, Lumad and Christian settlers in the midst of military airstrikes; dialogues with local government units and agencies; documentation of human rights condition of evacuees; relief distribution; medical service; and psycho-social intervention for children, youth, and adult. The humanitarian mission was convened by Kalinaw Mindanao with the support of the National Anti-Poverty Commission. It gathered over a thousand volunteers composed of health professionals, religious persons, church workers, lawyers, social workers, teachers, students, artists, advocates and activists.
