NWOEP 2017 - Visual Arts Workshop for Urban Poor Youth & Children
The National Week for Overcoming Extreme Poverty (NWOEP) 2017 kicks-off with a free visual arts workshop for youth and children at the Museo Pambata on September 17, 2017. The participants come from urban poor communities in Paco, Pandacan and Manila North Cemetery. Jen Utleg Consumido and Fidel Sarmiento of the Art Association of the Philippines serve as facilitators of the workshop utilizing water color and pastel. NWOEP is organized by the National Anti-Poverty Commission with ATD Fourth World-Philippines. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the World Day for Overcoming Poverty. This year's theme is "Answering the Call of October 17 to end poverty: A path toward peaceful and inclusive societies" (Kilos Sambayanan Laban sa Kahirapan: Pagtugon sa Panawagan noong ika-17 ng Oktubre na Wakasan ang Kahirapan: Isang Landas para sa Mapayapa at Pantay-Pantay na Nagkakaisang Lipunan). The workshop is conducted in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Museo Pambata.
