National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) was invited to the 1st Socialized Housing Convergence hosted by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) in celebration of the 31st Anniversary of the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) last September 5, 2019 at the Land Bank of the Philippines, Malate, Manila.

Ms. Norhainah Lucman attended the event as a representative of NAPC. SHFC has a mission of uplifting the living conditions of underprivileged communities through Building Adequate Livable Affordable and Inclusive Filipino Communities or the BALAI Filipino Communities program.

Hon. Secretary Eduardo D. Del Rosario, from the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, opened the program by delivering a speech on the BALAI Filipino Communities project, as the theme for the housing sector. The project aims to improve government efforts in addressing Filipino housing needs as they strive to build resilient houses in safe and sustainable communities, together with the other key shelter agencies. The Secretary also shared some of the problems encountered in attaining its goal, by which he assures to address these issues the soonest possible time.

Moreover, programs from other government agencies like the Manila Bay Rehabilitation project; Manila South Railway project; Intramuros Administration (IA) Rehabilitation Project; and SHFC Community Mortgage Program were also showcased during the discussions on innovations for housing.

In line with the event, all the invited government agencies converged and signed a pledge of commitment to do their shares and respective areas of responsibilities towards a better living for every Filipino family.
