The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) called for back-to-back inter-agency meetings to address the concerns of the Koalisyon ng Maralita – Nagsama-samang mga Samahan (KNM-SSS) and Mauling Homeowners Association regarding their appeal for land ownership.
NAPC facilitated the program in order to find a convergence point among all the parties concerned. The said meeting was joined by various government agencies like DILG, HUDCC, CHR, LRA, LMB-DENR, DENR-NCR, NMRIA-DENR, and QCPD as well as representatives from the concerned barangays, namely: Bagong Silangan; North Fairview; Payatas; and Batasan. The local government unit of Quezon City and Taguig was also present.
Aside from this, NAPC Head Executive Assistant Elias Labro Jr. asked for everyone’s cooperation in order to resolve the decade-long issue at hand. The creation of 2 sub-committees for peace & order and for the establishing and verification of information was also agreed upon.
Moreover, the meeting is set to be followed by another one sometime at the end of September to further elaborate the plans on how to address the issues surrounding the said land.
This is in accordance to the agency’s mandate to serve as an oversight committee of poverty alleviation programs for 25 government agencies as well as the local government units and to strengthen partnerships between the national government and the 14 basic sectors.
The meeting was held at the LWUA Employees’ Lounge, MWSS Complex last September 5, 2019.
