NAPC, Valladolid LGU ink MOA for 3M poverty alleviation project

The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) and the Municipality of Valladolid signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the 3-million poverty reduction project last Thursday, September 26 at the Valladolid Covered Court, Negros Occidental. The MOA signing ceremony was led by NAPC Secretary/ Lead Convenor Noel K. Felongco and Mayor Enrique Miravalles.

The tie-up is under the PHP 49M NAPC-PAGCOR fund assistance that is set to be allocated for poverty reduction prototype projects such as compact farming, construction of Multi-Purpose Buildings and Village-Linked Coco Industry Development in the seven identified priority areas.

The PHP 3 Million fund for Valladolid is appropriated for the development of an Integrated Community-Based Agricultural Production and Processing Facility which shall include PHP 2 million for the construction of physical infrastructures and procurement of equipment; PHP 500,000 for hauling support and provision for vehicle; and another PHP 500,000 for capital infusion relative to the conduct of livelihood projects that will be turned-over to the local community through the LGU.

“We have signed the MOA today to further strengthen our partnership and ensure the support of the local government unit by providing necessary administrative and logistical assistance for the development of the project,” said NAPC Secretary Felongco. He also added that NAPC is ready to provide support in order to ensure the proper implementation of the project through its volunteers.

Meanwhile, Mayor Miravalles thanked the agency for choosing Valladolid as one of its project sites for the implementation of the NAPC-PAGCOR Poverty Reduction through Rural Development project.

Moreover, the inauguration of the first-ever provincial office of NAPC in the municipality of Valladolid was also conducted last Thursday.
