NAPC to uplift the lives of the fisherfolk in Calbayog City through PRRD prototype project

The National Anti-Poverty Commission went down to Calbayog City, Samar to conduct series of orientations with fisherfolk beneficiaries, Ka-Sambayanihan Volunteers and a meeting with LGU department heads on PAGCOR funded Poverty Reduction through Rural Development (PRRD) prototype project in the city from September 4-6, 2019.

In the morning of September 4, a Ka-Sambayanihan Volunteers’ Orientation with 250 stakeholders including the members of the basic sectors at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Obrero, Calbayog City. Then in the afternoon, NAPC went to Barangay Maguino-o covered court, Calbayog City to hold the PAGCOR PRRD project orientation and a workshop with fisherfolk beneficiaries from Barangay Tomaliguis, Maguino-o , Binaliw and San Joaquin to get first-hand information about what they really need to be lifted out of poverty and to distinguish which of the 10 basic needs that they have and don’t have access to.

Meanwhile, as a confirmation of people’s sincerity to become Ka-Sambayanihan Volunteer another Orientation was conducted in the in the afternoon of September 5 at Barangay Obrero covered court.

The following day, September 6, NAPC holds a meeting with the Calbayog City Department Heads at Calbayog City Hall, wherein it was decided that there will be another MOA for the PRRD project to be signed during the City’s Charter Day celebration on October 16, 2019.
