NAPC implements its poverty alleviation prototype project in Talipao, Sulu

As part of the National Anti-Poverty Commission’s effort to bring the government interventions down to the grassroots level, NAPC Secretary and Lead Convenor Noel K. Felongco inks a MOA with Talipao Municipal Mayor Nivocadnezar I. Tulawie for the PAGCOR-funded poverty reduction through rural development prototype project implementation on October 14, 2019 at L’Meridian Suites, Zamboanga City.

The ceremonial MOA signing was witnessed by Talipao Municipal Administrator Abdulmoin D. Kali, Talipao Municipal Councilor Abejar-I T. Sahimarri, LTC. Gerald L. Monfort from GSC (INF) PA of the 11th Infantry Division and Col. Miguel Ceballos, GSC, INF, P.A, OU8, Representative WMC.

Sec. Felongco emphasized that Talipao has been chosen as one of the LGU beneficiaries because it is one of the LGUs who garnered the Seal of Good Local Governance award in the island of Mindanao. He also expressed his optimism that what we are doing today are geared towards reducing poverty in the country and it is contributory to the realization of the country’s AmBisyon Natin 2040 which is to transform the Philippines into a progressive middle class by 2040. He also added that year 2020-2022 is the poverty era in the Philippines. He even stressed that if there is good governance the problem in insurgency and poverty in the country will be resolved.

The following day, October 15, NAPC went down to the grassroots and conducted a Ka-Sambayanihan Volunteers’ Orientation at Talipao Municipal Gymnasium which was participated by the residents from the 11 barangays in the municipality namely: Brgy. Kandaga, Tubod, Niog-Sangahan, Tiis, Mungit-Mungit, Liban, Samak, Andalan, Tinggah, Poblacion Bilaan and Kabatuhan Bilaan. The ultimate goal of NAPC is to mobilize 1M volunteers nationwide to become the agency’s partners in the monitoring and implementation of poverty reduction programs and projects in the country.
