The National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) officials and employees gathered at the LWUA Auditorium today for this month’s General Assembly which was hosted by the Policy and Planning Service.
After the opening ceremonies, NAPC Undersecretary Paterna Ruiz gave an inspirational message wherein she reminded everyone about the importance of the agency’s role in fighting poverty. She mentioned that the 4 basic sectors who are experiencing inter-generational poverty are farmers, fisherfolk, women and children. She also urged everyone to have a genuine intention to reduce our poverty statistics and not just contented with reducing poverty incidence in the country.
“We have a big challenge to face. In the coming months we need to come up with positive and affirmative action to be discussed with policy makers as well as policy inputs to our economic managers to put into action our agenda in poverty reduction… We hope that 'ber' months would provide a positive spirit that we could use to implement our programs in the next 4 months,” says Undersecretary Ruiz.
