NAPC-GAD equips employees to be gender-sensitive and to be agents of development

NAPC-GAD conducted a Gender Sensitivity and GAD (gender-and-development) Training and Workshop with the agency’s employees from September 25-27, 2019 at Cocoon Boutique Hotel, Quezon City.

The training and workshop sought to promote gender and development among NAPC personnel as a tool to eliminate prevailing organizational and sectoral gender inequalities, to impart knowledge appreciation and to deepen the understanding on the concept of gender and sexuality and to promote gender and development as a tool to eliminate prevailing organizational and sectoral gender inequalities.

The topics highlighted during the 3-day activity include: Mainstreaming GAD and NAPC’s GAD policy as well as overview of Gender Mainstreaming vis-à-vis the agency’s mandate; practical gender needs and strategic needs.

Usec. Paterna Ruiz emphasized that in the strategic development of gender sensitivity, development must expand the range of choices for people and will provide opportunities to enhance an individual’s capacity to do and capacity to be. She said that together we do our mission, we need to be agents of transformations, but we need to transform ourselves first. She also mentioned that NAPC aims to address poverty through widen opportunities, open opportunities for women and the capacity to do and capacity to be should be planned. She added that better life is living long and living well.

The activity recognized that real and meaningful development will be achieved if gender concerns are integrated into all levels of development process.
